Public Health Nurse (Internal/External)

Summary:

We have opening for a temporary part-time (0.70 FTE) PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE starting immediately and ending December 31, 2025 on the Infectious Disease Team. The position can be based out of the West Gore (Stratford) or Clinton office.

Education:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing

Skills:

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • excellent time management and organizational skills
  • able to work independently and in a team setting
  • proficient computers skills, including familiarity with Windows, Microsoft office programs and use of the Internet
  • Case and Contact Management experience
  • experience working with Databases (CCM, iPHIS)

Conditions:

  • terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the ONA Collective Agreement
  • successful candidates must obtain and maintain a satisfactory vulnerable sector check
  • immunizations in accordance with Board Policy/Collective Agreements including annual influenza and COVID-19 immunizations unless medically contra indicated
  • successful candidates must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a safe and well-maintained vehicle suitable for carrying out duties on behalf of the employer

Hours: 

Usually 8:30 am – 4:30 pm; Monday to Friday (some evenings and
weekends may be required).

Wage:

$38.58 – $52.13 per hour

Immigrant Advocate (Low German Advocate) 

External Temporary part-time (0.30 FTE)

We have an opening for a temporary part-time (0.30 FTE or 21 hours per two week pay period) IMMIGRANT ADVOCATE (Low German Advocate) starting March 11, 2025 and ending December 31, 2025 in the Healthy Babies Healthy Children / Anabaptist program. The position is based out of the Listowel office.

Summary:

The Immigrant Advocate (Low German Advocate) works as a member of a team of public health staff to deliver programs and services primarily to Low German speaking young families in Huron and Perth Counties. The Immigrant Advocate (Low German Advocate) is aware of the unique needs of Low German speaking families and works with them in a variety of settings, including Mother and Young Child Clinic, English as a Second/Additional Language community program, and Healthy Babies Healthy Children program. The position would provide Low German translation/interpretation services, support families with linking to relevant community programs and services, support parents to develop their parenting skills, and promote healthy child development.


Education:

  • High School diploma

Skills:

  • ability to speak and translate in Low German
  • understanding of unique cultural needs of Low German Speaking Mennonites
  • experience working with parents and children
  • good written and verbal communication skills
  • ability to plan, organize and manage time effectively
  • ability to learn and use computer applications is an asset
  • ability to work independently as well as within a team.
