Oral Health Clinics and Screening

Preventive dental care

Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) can connect you to different oral health programs and supports. HPPH also provides free preventive services to eligible children and youth whose families do not have dental insurance and cannot afford the cost of dental care.

Preventive services are available by appointment only and include:

  • teeth cleaning
  • fluoride varnish
  • dental sealants
  • oral hygiene instructions

We also provide free friendly dental visits for children three years of age and under for families with or without dental insurance. Within six months of your child getting their first tooth or by one year of age, they can see a Registered Dental Hygienist.

If you would like to find out more information, the Oral Health team can discuss available programs and services, including Healthy Smiles Ontario. Please call us at 1-888-221-2133 ext 3561 to find out if your child is eligible and to book an appointment at one of our clinics.

Dental screening in schools

HPPH dental staff annually visit elementary schools in our community to provide dental screening.  The information that we collect allows us to assess the dental health needs of our community. Statistical data are sent to the Ministry of Health annually.

HPPH will notify parents and guardians when screening is taking place in their child's school.

Students in junior kindergarten, senior kindergarten and grade two will be screened. Students from other grades in selected schools may also be screened. If your child was not screened at school, you may request a dental screening. Call the Oral Health team at 1-888-221-2133 ext 3561 to book an appointment.
