Huron Perth, ON – Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is holding a measles vaccination clinic in Listowel on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 1 to 5 p.m. The clinic will take place at the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex (front room), 965 Binning St. W., Listowel.
The clinic is open to infants 6 months of age or older, children, and individuals born in or after 1970 who are not up to date for measles vaccinations (i.e., who have not had a first or second dose). Two doses of measles containing vaccine are needed for the best protection against measles.
HPPH strongly recommends under-immunized children and staff in childcare or school settings be vaccinated promptly.

Please DO NOT attend the clinic if you have been in contact with someone who has measles within the last 21 days, or if you currently have symptoms of measles.
Huron Perth remains an area of concern for measles
HPPH has investigated 94 confirmed and probable cases of measles since February 2025.
Measles is a highly contagious airborne virus that spreads through the air when an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes. The virus can remain active in the air and on surfaces for up to two hours, posing a serious risk to individuals who are not immune.
While many people recover from measles within two to three weeks, the virus can lead to severe complications, sometimes requiring hospitalization, including pneumonia, ear infections, diarrhea, hearing loss, brain swelling (encephalitis), seizures, or, in rare cases, death.
Vaccination is the most effective way to protect against measles. Two doses of a measles-containing vaccine (e.g., MMR or MMRV) provide over 97% protection.
